Denison Alumni Panel Discusses Careers

GRANVILLE—What happens to Denison University graduates once they go off into the world? Three Denison alumni return to campus at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, in the Burton D. Morgan Center Lecture Hall (150 Ridge Road) to discuss their careers and the ethical issues they’ve encountered in their work. The panel is free and open to the public.

James Anderson ’85, a theatre major at Denison, is now senior vice president of public relations for Turner Animation, a TimeWarner company which produces media including Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Adult Swim. Anderson supervised publicity campaigns for “That 70’s Show,” “3rd Rock from the Sun,” “Roseanne” and the “Cosby Show,” among others. He has helped elevate the profile of Cartoonnetwork.com to one of the top online destinations for kids.

Matthew Harrington ’84, an English major at Denison, is now president and CEO of Edelman Public Relations Worldwide. He has counseled a range of clients including Charles Schwab & Company, Starbucks and UPS. Harrington is a specialist in corporate positioning and reputation management. His expertise includes crisis communications, initial public offerings and merger and acquisition activity.

Jim Simon ’73, a history major at Denison, is now vice president of corporate communications for Nationwide. He has previously held positions with Cardinal Health, KPMG and First Interstate Bancorp among others. Simon has experience in United States and international media relations and issues management, and has led teams that have won numerous national awards for corporate and marketing communications.
