Class of '06 described as "exceptional"

Denison University's Office of Admissions Records Another Outstanding Year

Posted: May 10, 2002

The numbers are in and Denison's Office of Admissions is reporting another highly successful year.

Building on the momentum and strength of recent entering classes, the Class of 2006 is one of the most diverse and academically talented in recent memory. It is primarily the academic quality and demonstrated success of the University's current students that have helped reinforce Denison's reputation as one of the nation's leading colleges of liberal arts and sciences.

"It is clear that we are the first-choice college for a growing number of outstanding students from around the country and overseas," commented Director of Admissions Perry Robinson about this year's success. "The addition of the Class of 2006 to our student body will further enhance the extraordinary educational experiences offered to all Denison students."

In 2001-02, the Office of Admissions received nearly 3,300 applications, its second-largest applicant pool in the last dozen years. Highlights of this impressive class include:

The Class of 2006 is every bit as accomplished outside the classroom as it is academically. The incoming group includes several class presidents and community service leaders, as well as film writers and producers, newspaper and literary magazine editors, musicians, actors, poets and martial arts experts. Many of Denison's entering students are outstanding athletes, and should help the University defend its current NCAC All-Sports Championship, an honor it has earned for five consecutive years.

The Office of Admissions is extremely thankful to all of the Denison students, faculty and staff who joined forces to help make this admissions year such a resounding success. Special recognition goes to Denison's "DARTers" (members of the Denison Alumni Recruiting Team) led by Senior Associate Director of Admissions Mike Hills, as well as all the other alumni and friends of the University who played a pivotal role in recruiting these exceptional students for Denison.
