Denison Hosts Community Arts Festival

The Bryant Arts Center at Denison will host a Community Arts Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, in the Bryant Arts Center (210 West College Street). Throughout the building and grounds, students will lead family-friendly workshops in painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography and printmaking. Snacks, music, games, balloons and prizes will be available all through the day. All events are free and open to the public.
Opening at noon, a photography exhibit, “I MADE THIS!” will celebrate the people who actually made the building, their ingenuity, creativity and problem-solving skills.
Jack Beyer, Bryant Arts Center architect and Denison alumnus, will give a presentation on the creative process that led to the design of the Bryant Arts Center at 1 p.m. A panel discussion will follow.
The Benchmark Collective’s student-designed bench will be unveiled and dedicated at 2:30 p.m. The Benchmark Collective is a student art collective that serves as the organizing body for any contribution to the campus from senior studio art majors and is under the auspices of the Denison Art Collective.
The studio art faculty will open an exhibition of their work “Showroom: NINE at Bryant Arts” at 3:30 p.m. The faculty will represent various media including ceramics, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture.
