Denison University's Community, Unity, Peace Alliance (CUPA) will hold "Community Fest: Peace. Unity. Community." from 9 p.m. to midnight on Sunday, Dec. 2, in Huffman Hall's Bandersnatch, (700 East Loop). The community-building event was inspired by recent campus-wide conversations on diversity and has as its goal the spread of unity by focusing on respect for differences but not separating because of those differences.

Community Fest will offer such highlights as an open mic for music, spoken-word poetry and comedy routines; projections of student-generated slideshows and video footage from recent diversity-centered events; informational tables with representatives from campus multicultural groups; a poster-making area; and hugging booth.

CUPA is a new campus organization formed by students that strives to create a more understanding and accepting community with the central idea of the unification of the student body. The group's mission statement says, "Through both educational and social events around campus, we aim to recognize and celebrate differences in individuals while fostering an inclusive environment."
