The Denison Crew Club is once again sending a boat to the prestigious Head of the Charles regatta in Cambridge, Mass., this weekend. Since 2001 Denison has placed a bid yearly for an entry in this world-class regatta, and, for five years, the Crew Club has been given the chance to send a boat. This year, Denison will be represented in the Men's Club Four Race. The team has tried to alternate between sending a men's and women's boat.

The crew this year includes coxswain Jill Rosenfeld, an assistant coach for the team, who will be in the stern of the boat steering it down the course. Facing her in the stroke seat will be Scott Ingraham, who serves as head coach, followed by David Savoie '08 of Richwood, Brett Masarky '07 of Ridgewood, N.J., and Mark Williams '06 of Ann Arbor, Mich.

Having been given a bid in this prestigious regatta for five years in a row has given crew club members the chance to compete against crews from all over the world. This year the Club Four race will take place at 11:53 a.m. on Saturday (Oct. 22). Also helping the Denison Crew to train is novice coach Dan Curry ofwho came to Denison Crew in the spring of 2005 and trains the new freshman rowers. Denison Crew has gone from being a student-coached sport to having outside coaches train the team. The 2005/2006 team is still small in numbers but the committed rowers are looking to expand the size of the team in future seasons.
