Posted: January 24, 2013

GRANVILLE, Ohio—Denison University senior Ilke Akcasoy will host her 2010 project, titled “Find the 7 Errors and Alice,” at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, at the Doane Performance Space (231 West College Street). The premiere work choreographed by Akcasoy will be repeated at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec 5. All performances are free and open to the public.

Akcasoy says of her work, “I am playing with transformations in very basic elements to affect the visceral response in the audience. By incorporating large fabrics, projection of images, and absurd sounds simultaneously with the choreography, I aim to sway the audience at once from feeling frustrated to mesmerized, from performative to pedestrian. This performance is my invitation for others to join in my imaginarium for an hour.”

A native to Istanbul, Turkey, Akcasoy, has a variety of experiences in the fields of theatre, dance and visual arts. She aims to present a product of these experiences, and her academic career in theatre, dance, and cinema via this performance.
