Denison Hosts Afro-Brazilian Dance Celebration

Denison University will host a performance of DanceBatukeira, an Afro-Brazilian dance and music celebration, at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, in the Doane Dance Performance Space (231 West College Street). The event is free and open to the public. Contact 740-587-6712 to confirm information.

Denison World Dance faculty Cabello Rolim and Tieza Coelho will host and perform in this event, which will be a featured stop on the Granville Candlelight Walking Tour. Rolim and Coelho are masters of capoaira angola, a special form of dance described as “a fight for dancers, a dance for gladiators ... a perfect mixture of strength and rhythm, poetry and agility.”
