Posted: April 30, 2007

A dance performance that explores the history and unique atmosphere at Bryn Du Mansion will be presented during the "Granville Business and Beyond" Community Fair. The free, outdoor performance, "looking through, thinking past: five window views from the creek," is set for noon time on Saturday (May 5) at the mansion, The dance performance will be given regardless of weather conditions. (Bryn Du Mansion is located at 537 Jones Road, one mile east of Granville off of Newark-Granville Rd. Parking is available adjacent to the Mansion.)

The Community Fair is hosted by theChamber of Commerce and the Village of Granville with sponsorship from the Licking Memorial Health Systems, The Granville Sentinel and The Advocate.

"looking through, thinking past," is a series of five short contemporary dance pieces performed at five different locations on the grounds of Bryn Du. These locations include the second story back porch of the mansion, the east garden, the front porch and patio, the hayloft in the barn, and the landscape of the grounds. Students Allie Gleditsch, Eleni Grove, Gonzalo Tuesta, Lesley Lighthiser, and Megan Castranio have researched and composed these pieces using the history and landscape of the mansion to inform and enhance their work. They are honors students from the class "Composing the Body" taught by Associate Professor Sandra Mathern-Smith.

One of the goals of this work is to bring attention to Bryn Du and to provoke thought about future uses of the space and grounds for the community. In lieu of tickets, donations for Bryn Du will be accepted.
