The Denison Beck Lecture Series presents a poetry reading by Katy Lederer at 8 p.m., on Tuesday, March 30, in the Barney-Davis Board Room (200 West Loop). Lederer will read from her most recent work, “The Heaven-sent Leaf,” a collection of poems that address money, commerce, and love, drawing from her experience working for six years as a vice president at one of the world’s biggest hedge funds, D.E. Shaw and Co. The reading is free and open to the public.

In addition to “Heaven-sent Leaf,” Lederer has authored the poetry collection “Winter Sex” and a memoir, “Poker Face: A Girlhood Among Gamblers,” which Publishers Weekly magazine named one of the Best Nonfiction Books of the Year, and Esquire Magazine designated as one of the eight Best Books of the Year. Lederer’s writing has appeared in “The American Poetry Review,” “Boston Review,” and “Harvard Review.” She received fellowships from Yaddo, MacDowell and the New York Foundation for the Arts, and was honored with a Discover Great New Writers citation from Barnes & Noble’s Discover Great New Writers Program.
