Dynamic Duo to Perform at Denison

GRANVILLE -- Musicians Cora Kuyvenhoven, cello, and Stephen Sims, violin, will perform a concert 'Dynamic Duo' at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb.17, in the Burke Recital Hall (240 West Broadway).

The two musicians will perform classical works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Arthur Honeggar, Maurice Ravel and Egon Wellesz. The concert is free and open to the public.

Kuyvenhoven is a cello instructor at Denison University and an assistant principal for ProMusica Chamber Orchestra. She has performed solos and duos in all three concerts of the Denison University New Music Festival. Kuyvenhoven also has been a cello instructor, continuo player and spiritual mentor at MasterWorks Performing Arts Festival in Indiana for the last three summers. She earned a master of fine arts from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Sims teaches at the Sato Center for Suzuki Studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He has been an orchestral musician for many years and was the concert master for the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra as well as the assistant principal violin with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. Sims holds a doctor of musical arts degree in performance and pedagogy from the University of Iowa and a master's degree in performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music.
