GRANVILLE -- To celebrate this month's total lunar eclipse, the Denison University department of physics and astronomy will host an open house from 9:30 p.m. to midnight on Wednesday (Oct. 27) in Swasey Observatory, located at 300 Chapel Drive on the Denison campus.

If skies are clear, visitors are welcome to view the moon and other astronomical objects during the eclipse through either the Warner and Swasey nine-inch refracting telescope in the observatory's dome, and through eight- and 11-inch reflecting telescopes set up at ground level.

The open house will begin as the moon begins to move into the Earth's shadow and will last until midnight. This will be the last total eclipse of the moon until March 3, 2007.

This event is free and open to the public. If the weather is not clear, the event will be cancelled.
