Empty Bowls Soup Sale at Denison

The Denison University Art Collective is sponsoring its annual Empty Bowls Soup Sale. The popular charity event features handmade ceramic bowls that may be purchased and filled with soup or chili for $10. The sale will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17, in the Welsh Hills Room of the Burton D. Morgan Center (150 Ridge Road) on the Denison campus. The sale will continue that day at the Soup Loft (138 East Broadway, Granville) from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. All proceeds will support the Food Pantry Network of Licking County in recognition of the National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.
The Empty Bowls Soup Sale is sponsored by Denison’s Department of Studio Art, the Soup Loft, Sodexo, and the Sanfillipo Produce Company. At a 12-hour “Bowl-a-Thon” earlier this fall, members of the Denison and Granville communities were invited to create ceramic bowls, which were glazed and fired by the Denison University Art Collective. The Sanfillipo Produce Company, Sodexo and the Soup Loft have donated time and ingredients to fill the bowls.
