The Denison University Chamber Ensembles will perform at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, in the Burke Recital Hall (240 West Broadway). The concert will include a flute ensemble, directed by Leslie Maaser; oboe ensemble, directed by Steve Rosenberg; bassoon ensemble, directed by Cynthia Cioffari; double reed ensemble, directed by Steve Rosenberg; clarinet ensemble, directed by Robert Jones; and a chamber music ensemble, directed by Deborah Price. This concert, featuring both Denison students and staff, is free and open to the public.
Rosenberg, instructor of oboe at Denison since 1983, said, “the music department has seen an influx of talented students, and this is reflected both in the level of performance and degree of difficulty of the repertoire being performed.” He described the concert as “a delightful mix of music for woodwind ensembles, including flute, oboe, clarinet and bassoon, with a few strings added to the blend on several pieces.”
The concert will feature the following Denison students: Zoe Ashmead (Grand Rapids, Mich.), Lydia Boote (Deerfield, Ill.), Alyssa Christian (Stonington, Conn.), Ethan Cohen (Signal Mountain, Tenn.), Sarah Edgerton (Shaker Heights, Ohio), Courney Flynn (Avon Lake, Ohio), Jane-Coleman Harbison (Nashville, Tenn.)
