The Denison Museum is pleased to invite community members its Family Day event from 1 to 4 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 11, at the museum (240 W. Broadway). Bring family and friends to participate in some of the hands-on ceramic-inspired activities scheduled, such as make your own pottery and ceramic tile decorating, a film screening of “Night at the Museum,” and a first-ever youth book club discussion. The youth book club will explore the Newbery Award-winning novel, “A Single Shard,” by Linda Sue Park, a story about a 12th-century orphan who discovers his future in his innate curiosity with the traditional potters trade. Copies of “A Single Shard” can be purchased at the Reader’s Garden located at 143 East Broadway in.
Family Day is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served, and participants are welcome to join at any time throughout the day. This event is one of numerous activities and programs scheduled to celebrate the current exhibition, “From the Fire: Contemporary Korean Ceramics.” To learn more about Family Day at the Denison Museum, the exhibition, or other programming scheduled to take place, contact Amber Schott at 740-587-6225 or schotta@denison.edu, or visit the Denison Museum's
