Denison Progressive Alliance (DPA), Denison’s student-run social advocate organization, is showing the award-winning film “Flow” at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, in Higley Hall Auditorium (100 Ridge Road). The film is free and open to the public and will be followed by a short discussion.
The film “Flow” is a documentary The New York Times reviewed as, “an astonishingly wide-ranging film. An informed and heartfelt examination of the tug-of-war between public health and private interests.” Directed by Irena Salina and Best Documentary winner at the 2008 Vail International Film Festival, “Flow” investigates one of the most important political and environmental issues effecting the 21st century — the world water crisis. Using interviews with scientists and activists, Salina exposes the rapidly building crisis while also showing how citizens and public institutions can address the problem by developing simple solutions to stimulate a global turnaround.
The Denison Progressive Alliance, led by co-presidents Amanda Dever ’09 and Caiti Shroering ’09, is a social and environmental advocate group aimed at educating Denison University about global issues affecting our planet. The Green Team student organization at Denison is also supporting the film screening highlighting Earth Week on campus.
