GRANVILLE, Ohio—Denison University’s Global Studies Seminar Series presents a lecture by Veerendra Lele, director of the International Studies Program. Lele’s lecture is titled “Mixed Temporalities at the Trowel’s Edge: Material ‘Shifters’ in Archaeological Sites,” and it will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 12, in the Shepardson Room of Slayter Hall (200 Ridge Road). The lecture is free and open to the public.

Archaeological practice works at the interface of the past and the present. How the past affects the present is one of the oldest, and still central, questions in anthropology. Anthropological and archaeological research recently has taken up questions about how archaeological sites, in Ireland and elsewhere, contribute to understanding the formation and transformation of landscapes.

The Global Studies Seminar Series is an interdisciplinary intellectual forum for the Denison community to discuss and debate academic and policy issues of global importance. Speakers from the Denison faculty, as well as guest scholars, are invited to present recently published or work-in-progress research.
