Art in contemporary China

GRANVILLE, Ohio—Denison University’s Global Studies Seminar presents a lecture by Peggy Wang, assistant professor of art history, “Picturing the World: Art and Advertising in Contemporary China.” The lecture will take place at 7:30 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 30, in room 210 of Samson Talbot Hall (350 Ridge Road). Wang specializes in Asian art and visual culture. She has been a recipient of the Jacob Javits Fellowship as well as the Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Fellowship. Her research centers on how meanings and histories of art have been constructed in China and other parts of Asia, particularly in light of cultural globalization.
 
The Global Studies Seminar at Denison is a multidisciplinary, scholarly forum, generally with an international focus, for presentation and discussion of papers in progress or other scholarly projects.
