GRANVILLE, Ohio—A lecture, titled “The Church Exotic: Popular Orientalism and the Missionary Circuit in Antebellum America” by Will Womack, will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, in the auditorium of Denison University’s Slayter Hall (200 Ridge Road). Womack is a research associate with the American Baptist Historical Society. He received his doctorate from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. The Goodspeed Lecture Series features scholars whose work is in the field of religion or is related to religious issues. The fund is named in honor of the late Edgar J. Goodspeed, an 1890 Denison graduate, who was one of the nine biblical scholars who worked on the Revised Standard Version of Scriptures, published in 1946.
