President Knobel Opens Granville's Bicentennial Lecture Series
Posted: January 10, 2005
GRANVILLE -- Denison University President Dale Knobel, a widely published historian, will inaugurate the Granville Bicentennial Lecture Series at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday (Jan. 25) at the Granville Inn (314 E. Broadway). The University president opens this series with remarks based on his introductory chapter in Volume One, "A Purpose, A Plan, A Place," from the new three-volume bicentennial history, "Granville, Ohio: A Study in Continuity and Change," which was published by the Granville Historical Society under the imprint of the Denison University Press. The other two volumes are titled "Reflections and Impressions" and "Images Past and Present."
Following President Knobel's remarks and the discussion, the Granville Inn is sponsoring a reception for all the authors, editors and the many others associated with bringing together the exceptional three-volume set. Tony and Carla Beckerley, owners of the historic inn, generously offered to sponsor this event as part of the Bicentennial celebration programs. The event will be a "book signing" occasion as well. The authors and editors have been asked to bring working pens!--The occasion will serve as an official acknowledgement of all the time and effort put forward by the volunteer authors, editors and Historical Society members in bringing this monumental historical project to fruition.
