Anne Groton, professor of classics at St. Olaf College, will present a lecture on “Papyrus Puzzles in the Comedies of Menander,” sponsored by Denison University’s Eta Sigma Phi, at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, in the Burton D. Morgan Center lecture hall (150 Ridge Road). The lecture is free and open to the public.

Groton graduated with a doctorate in classical studies from the University of Michigan in 1982. She has written several articles on ancient drama and two textbooks, “38 Latin Stories” and “From Alpha to Omega: A beginning Course in Classical Greek.” She received the American Philological Association’s Award for Excellence in the Teaching of the Classics in 1995. Groton currently is writing a commentary on Aspis (“The Shield”), a Greek comedy about Menander.

This event is sponsored by Eta Sigma Phi, the national honors society in classics, and Denison University’s Department of Classics.
