Lecture explores transportation energy technologies

GRANVILLE, Ohio—Ahmed Soliman, a visiting professor of environmental studies at Denison University, will deliver a lecture titled “CARS: The Story of Transportation Energy Technologies” at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 25, in the University Room of Denison University’s Slayter Hall (200 Ridge Road). With the increasing demand for energy and the rising concern for global warming, scientists and engineers have been searching for new and alternative sources of energy for the transportation sector. Soliman’s talk will shed some light on the different fuels and propulsion technologies that may have the potential of replacing current fossil fuel.
 
Soliman has a B.S. and M.S. in physics and a M.S. and Ph.D. in environmental engineering. His research experience crosses many fields, including research on substitutes for fossil fuel as a source of alternative energy, the study of urban air quality near highways, and work on micro-fluidics and development of  new high-performance protein crystallization plates for biological applications.
 
The Global Studies Seminar at Denison is a multidisciplinary, scholarly forum, generally with an international focus, for presentation and discussion of papers in progress or other scholarly projects.
