"Guerrilla Girls On Tour" come to Denison

The Guerrilla Girls On Tour, a touring theatre company that creates original productions celebrating the past, present and future of women’s history, will perform an original production, “Feminists are Funny: The Food Edition,” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, in Denison University’s Ace Morgan Theatre (211 West College Street). The event is free and open to the public.
The show is a montage of humorous historical moments in the lives of Julia Child, food writer MFK Fisher and southern cooking expert Edna Lewis. The performance celebrates Guerrilla Girls On Tour’s famous posters and street theatre actions, and highlights current issues and statistics on the relationship of women and food.
Each member of the troupe works under the name of a dead woman artist and performs wearing a gorilla mask. The company uses a variety of classic comedy techniques and utilizes parody, movement, dance and other performance methods in a loose vaudevillian framework.
