An Experience with
The Heisey Wind Ensemble

GRANVILLE—The Heisey Wind Ensemble’s first concert of the second semester is “The Human Experience” at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, in Swasey Chapel (200 Chapel Drive). The concert is open to the public and admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students and free for senior citizens and children under 12. Area band directors also have free tickets available for their students.

Music selections include George Gershwin’s “Catfish Row,” “Overture to Candide” by Leonard Bernstein and “As They Return” by Matthew Mauro. Also featured will be Mark Camphouse’s “Watchman, Tell Us of the Night” and “The Hounds of Spring” by Aldred Reed.

The ensemble is under the direction of Russell Mikkelson, director of university bands and an associate professor of conducting at the Ohio State University.

The Heisey Wind Ensemble, formed in 1985 by J. M. Day and Don Workman, is comprised of Denison University students, faculty and members of the community. In 2003, it was selected as one of the top community music groups by the Ohio Music Educators Association. The last concert the wind ensemble will perform at Denison this spring is “An Evening at the ‘Pops’ ” at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, in Swasey Chapel (200 Chapel Drive).
