GRANVILLE, Ohio— “Immigration and the American Dream” is the topic of a workshop to be held from noon to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, in the Welsh Hills Room of Denison University’s Burton D. Morgan Center (150 Ridge Road). The workshop features keynote speaker Richard T. Herman, author of “Immigrant, Inc.: Why Immigrant Entrepreneurs are Driving the New Economy (and how they will save the American Worker).” This event is free and open to the public; lunch is provided. Herman is the founder of Richard T. Herman & Associates, an immigration and business law firm in Cleveland, Ohio, which serves a global clientele in more than 10 languages. He is the co-founder of a chapter of TiE, a global network of entrepreneurs located in Silicon Valley and founded in 1992. He has appeared on National Public Radio and various affiliates of NBC, CBS and ABC. Herman also collaborates with Mayor Bloomberg’s Partnership for a New American Economy, a coalition of 300 CEOs and mayors nationwide advocating for immigration reform based on economic principles, and has co-authored a policy for the Great Lakes Chambers, 30 chambers of commerce from Chicago to Pittsburgh. 
 
Following Herman’s remarks, immigrant entrepreneurs and leaders from across central Ohio, representing Asian, Somalian and Hispanic organizations, will discuss the challenges immigrant entrepreneurs face, personal entrepreneurial success stories and how immigrant newcomers contribute to the economy.
 
The “Immigration and the American Dream” workshop is co-sponsored by the Burton D. Morgan Program in Liberal Arts and Entrepreneurship Education Program, Multicultural Student Affairs Center for Cross-Cultural Engagement, Organizational Studies Program, International Students Services and the Denison University Spectrum Series.
