The Denison Jazz Ensemble will showcase a group of new student performers along with four seniors at its fall concert at 8 p.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 15) in Burke Recital Hall. Free and open to the public, the concert will include music by composers Miles Davis, Count Basie and Nestico.

The Denison Jazz Ensemble is directed by Pete Mills, an affiliated studio instructor who earned degrees from The Eastman School of Music and The University of North Texas. Mills was named a North Carolina Jazz Composers Award winner in 1997, which funded his debut compact disc, "Momentum" (COJAZZ Records, 1998). A native of Toronto (Canada), Mills performs regularly with the Columbus Jazz Orchestra. His newest CD, under The Summit Record label, is titled "Art and Architecture."
