The Denison Jazz Guitar Festival will celebrate its 14th year with events that span two weekends. The Festival will kick off Oct. 30 with a concert featuring the John Jorgenson Quintet. It will continue with guitar clinics and two concerts featuring Gene Bertoncini on Nov. 6 and 7. All events are free and open to the public.

The John Jorgenson Quintet is known for its virtuosity and range of musical style. Jorgenson portrayed jazz guitar great Django Reinhardt in the feature film “Head in the Clouds,” and Reinhardt’s centennial will be celebrated with a concert, “Happy Birthday Django 100 years,” which also will feature Casey Cook, Andy Carlson, Tom Carroll and Doug Richeson in Speakeasy.

According to David R. Adler of the Aaron Copeland School of Music, Queens College, “There aren’t a great many exponents of nylon-string acoustic jazz guitar, but Gene Bertoncini, one of the true masters, belongs near the top of the list.” Events for the Jazz Guitar Festival include the following:
