Denison Chamber Music Series Presents 'Ladies In Black IV'
Posted: January 24, 2005
The Sundae Chamber Music Series will present Denison University Professor Marjorie Chan and the "Ladies in Black IV" in a performance at 3 p.m. on Sunday (Jan. 30) in Burke Recital Hall (240 W. Broadway). The Ladies in Black are members of the cello section of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Playing in this concert will be cellists Catherine Wagner, Darlene Barrett, Terri Boselli-Smith, Sabrina Lackey, Mary Davis-Fetherston and Chan.
The program for this concert includes several familiar favorites by Bach, Mendelssohn and Humperdinck. "The cello is said to be closely associated with the human voice," says Chan. "That aspect, along with the music and camaraderie of the ensemble, are a winning combination."
The Sundae Chamber Music Series was organized by Chan starting in the 1994/95 season and has featured numerous combinations of players. Duos, string ensembles, and quartets with both faculty members and guest artists from the symphony have been featured in the chamber music series. The program is free and open to the public.
