Posted: February 20, 2006
The Denison Latin/Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Guy Remonko, presents their spring concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday (Feb. 26) in Burke Recital Hall. The performance is free and open to the public.
The ensemble is an 11-member group created to compliment the other ensemble offerings available to Denison students. The concert will include a variety of jazz and Latin-jazz compositions by artists such as Pat Methany, Dizzy Gillespie, and Wayne Shorter. In addition to a large battery of percussion, the ensemble instrumentation includes piano, bass, guitar, trumpet, and a vocalist.
Remonko, an affiliated studio instructor in music, joined the Denison faculty in 2000. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in percussion performance at West Virginia University, and is a professor emeritus of music at Ohio University. Remonko is an active clinician, a freelance drummer performing at major clubs and festivals around the country, and a member of the Denison Faculty Jazz Quintet.
