Richard Rudis

Richard Rudis, also known as Sonam Dorje, has studied Eastern philosophy and Buddhism in Asia and in the United States for more than 25 years. Rudis is an American practitioner of Vajrayana Buddhism. He teaches Sacred Sound workshops and offers the public group healing sessions known as gong baths with Himalayan (Buddhist) Sacred Sound Instruments. •    Wednesday, March 30, 7:30 p.m. Knapp Hall Performance Space (300 Ridge Road) Lecture by Rudis. He will share his knowledge of sacred sound and Buddhist teachings in preparation for several gong baths. Free and open to the public.

•    Friday, April 1, 8 p.m. Knapp Hall Performance Space (300 Ridge Road) “Experience of Sound” one-hour gong bath. Rudis plays an Earth gong to promote meditation and healing. Participants should wear loose clothing and should bring a yoga mat (or something to lie on) and a blanket. Shoes must be taken off in the hallway. Free to Denison students, faculty and staff.  $20 fee (cash or check) for the public.

•    Saturday, April 2, and Sunday, April 3, 12:45 p.m. The Open House (204 N. Mulberry Street) Two-day Sacred Sound Workshop. Learn to use ancient Himalayan instruments for healing and transcendence. Free to Denison students, faculty and staff. $50 fee (cash or check) covers both days for the public.

•    Saturday, April 2, 7 p.m. The Open House (204 N. Mulberry Street) “Experience of Sound” 90-minute gong bath. Rudis plays an Earth gong to promote meditation and healing. Participants should wear loose clothing, and should bring a yoga mat (or something to lie on) and a blanket. Shoes must be taken off in the hallway.
