GRANVILLE, Ohio—Kate Rousmaniere, professor and chair of the Department of Educational Leadership at Miami University, Ohio, will give an historical analysis of teachers as citizens, focusing on the life of Chicago teacher Margaret Haley. The lecture, “Citizen Teachers and Social Change: How Teachers Can Change the World,” takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, in the lecture hall of Denison University’s Burton D. Morgan Center (150 Ridge Road). The lecture, co-sponsored by the Department of Education, the Department of History, the Women’s Studies Program, the Laura C. Harris Symposium, and the Alford Center for Service Learning, is free and open to the public. A second event, a lunch and discussion featuring Rousmaniere and OEA President Patricia Frost-Brooks, will take place at noon on Friday, Nov. 11, in the President’s Dining Room of Huffman Hall (700 East Loop). Rousmaniere’s research interests center on the history and politics of American teachers and methodological questions in the social history of education. Rousmaniere is the president of the International Standing Conference for the History of Education and is a past president of the History of Education Society.
