Beck Lecture Series Presents Mailloux

The Beck Lecture Series will host Steven Mailloux to discuss the relations of knowledge, power and performance from an interdisciplinary perspective. He is scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, in Slayter Hall Auditorium (200 Ridge Road). The lecture is free and open to the public.

Mailloux is English Chancellor Professor of Rhetoric at the University of California, Irvine. He has published three books, including “Reception Histories: Rhetoric, Pragmatism, and American Cultural Politics,” “Rhetorical Power,” “Interpretive Conventions: The Reader in the Study of American Fiction.” His research interests range from the history and theories of rhetoric to contemporary critical theory to the study of the United States culture.
