Honors Program Hosts Marshall & Rhodes Scholarship Representatives on April 14
Posted: April 8, 2004
The Denison University Honors Program is sponsoring information sessions on both the Marshall and Rhodes Scholarship programs. Caroline Cracraft, Vice Consul for Politics, Press and Public Affairs, British Consulate General, Chicago, and the regional representative for the Marshall Scholarship, and Tom Neville, Cleveland, the Ohio Rhodes Scholarship Secretary, will meet with prospective student applicants in small group sessions from 3 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday (April 14) in Burton Morgan Center, Rooms 317 and 402. They will also give a general presentation for Denison faculty and students at 4:15 p.m. that day in Samson Talbot Hall, Room 212.
Earlier in the day, 26 representatives from 16 Ohio colleges and universities will be on campus to meet with the Marshall and Rhodes representatives. This session is co-sponsored by the Denison Honors Program and the Ohio University Office of Nationally Competitive Awards.
Members of the faculty and administration are encouraged to attend the general presentation to gain a better understanding of what the scholarship committees are seeking in student applicants so that they can recognize strong candidates earlier in their academic careers. Call Cookie Sunkle at 6573 or e-mail her at sunkle@denison.edu to make a reservation.
Current sophomores and juniors with a GPA of 3.7 or above are especially encouraged to attend the small group sessions from 3-4 p.m. Any Denison student with a GPA of at least 3.6 is invited to attend the 4:15 p.m. general session. Since space is limited, reservations should be made for both options with Cookie Sunkle.
