Cuba through the lens of photography

GRANVILLE, Ohio—Notable Cuban-American photographer Tony Mendoza will present his work at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 22, in the lecture hall of Denison University’s Olin Science Hall (100 Sunset Hill Drive). Mendoza also will read from his new novel “The Mambo Club and Other Disasters; The Cuban Summer of 1954.” The event is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the modern languages department. Mendoza is a professor in Ohio State University Department of Art’s photography program. His collection of black-and-white Cuban photos has been displayed in major art galleries across the nation. Additionally, Mendoza wrote a memoir about his cat, Ernie, and is in the process of writing a novel about his experiences in Havana during the summer of 1957.
