Denison alumna Elizabeth J.A. Siwo-Okundi ’01 speaks at Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration

Elizabeth J.A. Siwo-Okundi, a member of the Denison class of 2001 and recent graduate of Harvard Divinity School, will return to Denison University to deliver the opening convocation address for the university’s annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25, in Swasey Chapel (200 Chapel Drive). The convocation is free and open to the public.
In 2008, Siwo-Okundi was featured in the Harvard University Gazette as one of 12 “best and brightest” among Harvard’s graduating class of nearly 7,000 students. She earned a Master of Divinity degree, magna cum laude, from Boston University School of Theology and a graduate certificate in African studies from Boston University African Studies Center. She also completed courses in the Master of Social Work program at Boston University School of Social Work, and has worked in corporate, nonprofit and university settings. Siwo-Okundi is founder and president of Orphan Wisdom Inc., a 501c3 nonprofit organization that supports orphans in Kenya.
