Denison Museum Book Club Hosts Lecture

Posted: February 26, 2010

The Denison Museum has selected “Seven Days in the Art World” by Sarah Thornton as its new book club choice. The book club will meet at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 13, in the Denison Museum, Burke Hall (240 West Broadway). Copies of the book are available at Reader's Garden in Granville and at the Granville Library.

“Seven Days in the Art World” is a social history of the recent past, set in New York, Los Angeles, London, Basel, Venice and Tokyo. In a series of day-in-the-life narratives, Thornton investigates the minute dramas in the world of artists, art fairs and auctions, like a Christie’s evening sale, life in a CalArts seminar, the Basel Art Fair, and the Venice Biennale. The novel explores the dynamics of creativity, taste, judgment, status, money and the search to define art and life.
