GRANVILLE, Ohio—A lecture by E. Valentine Daniel, “Tea Migrations,” concerns tea estate workers and the history of their migration from South India in the early 19th century to work on tea plantations in the highlands of Sri Lanka. The lecture takes place at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1, in the Black Box Theatre of Burke Hall (240 west Broadway). The event is free and open to the public. Daniel is a professor of anthropology at Columbia University. Daniel has several notable publications, including “Fluid Signs: Being a Person the Tamil Way” and “Mistrusting Refugees.”
 
The event is co-sponsored by the Denison Museum, the International Studies Program, the Department of Sociology/Anthropology and Migrations: Denison’s 2011-12 Spectrum Series.
