Denison Museum opens two exhibitions

The Denison Museum will host an opening reception for two contemporary art exhibitions from 5 to 7 p.m. this Friday, Jan. 22, in the Denison Museum (240 West Broadway). The exhibitions are open daily from 12 to 5 p.m., Thursdays 12 to 7 p.m., and will continue through Monday, March 22. The opening reception and daily exhibitions are free and open to the public.
“Close Encounters 2: Acts of Social Imagination” focuses attention on social issues, including immigration, financial crisis, environmentalism, and the mechanics of war. “Reimagining the Distaff Toolkit” includes works that incorporate objects traditionally associated with domestic labor such as irons, washboards and cooking vessels. Both exhibitions feature multi-media work by critically acclaimed 20th century artists.
