Denison Museum Presents Modern Photography Discussion

The Denison University Museum will present “Modern Photography Roundtable Discussion: Hinson, Marsh, Sperling,” at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, March 3, in Burke Hall (240 West Broadway). This photography discussion will take place as a part of the exhibit, “Stieglitz and Norman: An American Place,” opening in the Denison Museum at 5 p.m., on Tuesday, March 3, in Burke Hall. The discussion is free and open to the public.

Tom Hinson, Fredrick Marsh, and Joy Sperling will conduct the photography discussion with encouraged participation from audience members. Hinson is the curator of Contemporary Art and Photography at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Marsh, a graduate from Ohio State University with a master’s in printmaking, is a photography fellow for the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. He has been included in more than 200 competitive and invitation exhibitions since 1978. Sperling is an associate professor of art history at Denison, specializing in modern art and photography.

The exhibit, “Stieglitz and Norman: An American Place,” is on loan from the Ross Museum of Art at Ohio Wesleyan University. This collection of 20th century photographs showcases the work of photographer Dorothy Norman and the work of her mentor and lover, Alfred Stieglitz.

The Denison Museum is dedicated to providing students, faculty, and staff of Denison University as well as the wider community, with first-hand cultural experiences. An ongoing program of lectures, symposia, visiting artists, gallery tours, and other events is scheduled.
