Denison University announces the availability of the NAACP scholarship for a Licking County student. The scholarship, valued at $17,000, honors the Licking County NAACP branch and its contributions to the local community.

The Licking County NAACP Scholarship will provide financial support to one student each year who meets the following criteria:

• African American high school senior who attends a Licking County secondary school.

• Academically eligible for admission to Denison and active in his or her high school and the community.

• Demonstrates high financial need as calculated by the Free Application For Federal Student Aid.

Scholarship selection will be based on the strength of an applicant's Denison application, including academic record, extracurricular achievements, leadership potential, essay and recommendations. The Licking County NAACP Scholarship can be combined with need-based financial aid. Interested candidates do not have to complete a separate application for this scholarship and will be considered at the time of their application to Denison. Application to Denison, including the Denison supplement to the Common Application, may be submitted through the Web site at www.commonapp.org by Jan. 15, 2008.
