Young Flutist to Perform Guest Recital at Denison

Flutist Jennifer Nitchman, a member of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, will perform a guest recital at Denison beginning at 8 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 15) in Burke Recital Hall. The performance is free and open to the public.

Nitchman is the winner of numerous competitions including first prize in the Young Artist Competitions of both the National Flute Association in 2001 and the Flute Society of Washington in 1999.

She has been principal flute of the Britt Festival Orchestra and a member of the artist faculty at the Brevard Music Center. Previously, she held the position of assistant principal flute with the United States Army Field Band in Washington, D.C., which is the Army's official touring organization. She also played with the Terra Haute Symphony Orchestra while pursuing a doctoral degree at Indiana University. She joined the St. Louis Symphony in 2003.

Nitchman currently holds the position of second flute with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. Among the composers whose works Nitchman will perform at this recital are J.S. Bach, Georges Hue and Otar Taktakisvili.
