Posted: February 18, 2002

Denison University's Career Services will be hosting two new events this month for students interested in working for non-profit employers. On Wednesday, (Feb. 20) 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. in Slayter Auditorium, there will be a Non-Profit Panel. Panelists include: Tom Ramseyer, executive director of House of Hope for Alcoholics, Wanda Parker, director of Workforce Development at the Columbus Urban League, Michael Walsh, director of Human Resources at Easter Seals, Josiette White, VISTA leader for Americorps, and Phyllis Carlson-Riehm, executive director of Action Ohio (Coalition for Battered Women).

Each of the panelists will speak about his background, his organization and what makes the organization a non-profit, and will give advice to the students regarding finding a job in the non-profit arena. After the panelists have finished speaking, the students will have the opportunity to ask questions.

A Non-Profit Fair will be held on Thursday (Feb. 21) from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Slayter second floor. The fair will include representatives from more than 35 different non-profit organizations. Some will have information regarding jobs, internships, and/or volunteer work. Others will provide information about their organization for future reference. Seniors are encouraged to dress professionally and bring copies of their resume. All students who are interested in non-profit organizations are invited and encouraged to attend both events!
