What happens behind the walls of homes in Iraq during war and occupation? This question is the focus of the Open Shutters Iraq project, a photography exhibition and film at Denison University. The exhibition will open on Monday, Jan. 17, and continue through the month of February. The film will be screened on Friday, Jan. 21, immediately following a reception.

The project, directed by Eugenie Dolberg, consists of nine photographic essays and writing from women from many areas of Iraq. The women are of different social and political backgrounds with no previous photographic experience. They tell their stories in their own voices.
