GRANVILLE, Ohio—Denison University’s Department of Modern Languages will present a lecture by Gustavo Perez-Firmat, the David Feinson Professor of Humanities at Columbia University, at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, in the lecture hall of the Burton D. Morgan Center (150 Ridge Road). The lecture, “Havana Mañana: American Ideas of Latinness,” is free and open to the public. A poet, fiction writer and scholar, Gustavo Pérez Firmat is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and has been the recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the American Council of Learned Societies, and the Guggenheim Foundation. He is the author of several books of literary and cultural criticism, four collections of poetry, a novel and a memoir.
