GRANVILLE—The Denison University Department of Philosophy will hold a colloquium, “A Defense of Darwinian Evolutionary Ethics,” with Robert J. Richards, the Morris Fishbein Professor of the History of Science and Medicine at the University of Chicago, at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, in the Samson Talbot Hall of Biological Science (350 Ridge Road), Room 210. This event is free and open to the public.

Richards’ specific areas of interest include evolutionary biopsychology, evolutionary ethics, philosophy of history and German romanticism. He has authored a number of works in the area of the history and philosophy of biology, as well as psychology, such as “Darwin and the Emergence of Evolutionary Theories of Mind and Behavior” and “The Romantic Conception of Life: Science and Philosophy in the Age of Goethe.”
