The East Central Ohio Audubon Chapter will sponsor a planetarium show at Denison University’s F.W. Olin Science Hall (100 Sunset Hill Drive) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26. The show is in recognition of 2009 as the International Year of Astronomy and is free and open to the public, but reservations are required as seating is limited; e-mail Lyn Boone at BooneL@denison.edu or leave a message and your phone number at 740-587-4728. Callers may also request directions to on-campus parking for the Olin Science Hall.

The planetarium program will be conducted by Wes Walter, professor of physics and astronomy at Denison University. Professor Walter will take the audience on an indoor stargazing tour of the late-winter night sky, demonstrating the changes an observer will see as the seasons move into spring and summer. Specially highlighted will be representations of birds among the stars and constellations visible from Ohio. The program will be of interest to adults as well as to children over the age of eight.

Denison University’s 40-seat planetarium in the F.W. Olin Science Hall features a dome-shaped ceiling screen and a Zeiss ZKP3 planetarium projector.
