Exhibition celebrates “Day of the Dead”

GRANVILLE, Ohio—Five Denison studio art majors will show their work as part of an exhibition, “Por Vida,” an annual art event that celebrates the traditional Mexican Holiday Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. The opening of the exhibition is free and open to the public and takes place from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, at Junctionview Studios, (889 Williams Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43212). The exhibition continues from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, for those ages 21 and over with a $10 charge; and from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29, with a $5 charge, children under 12 are free. This is the fifth year for the exhibition, curated by Columbus artist Kat Moya. Denison juniors Hayley Anderson from Milford, Conn., Kristie King from Tarrytown, N.Y., Clara Lang-Ezekiel from Toulouse, France, Parker Shea from New Braunfels, Texas, and Miaja St. Martin from Nashville, Tenn., will show their photographs, prints, sculpture and drawings. The students have worked with Moya during the academic year as interns through the Denison Liberal Arts and Entrepreneurship Program.
