German author reads at Denison

GRANVILLE, Ohio— Denison University’s Department of Modern Languages will host Utz Rachowski, writer-in-residence at Gettysburg College. An author and scholar, Rachowski will read from his works at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 23, in room 207 of Denison University’s Fellows Hall (300 West Loop). The event is free and open to the public. Born 1954 in East Germany, Rachowski was arrested in 1979 for “subversive agitation” for copying and distributing his own poetry as well as texts by Jürgen Fuchs, Wolf Biermann and Reiner Kunze. He has offered readings and lectures throughout Germany, the United States, Sweden, Denmark, Senegal, Lithuania and Poland.
