Innovation and liberal arts

GRANVILLE, Ohio—“Innovation Networks, Liberal Arts and the Strength of Weak Ties” is the title of a lecture that will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 6, in the Library Viewing Room of the William Howard Doane Library (400 West Loop). Bruce Rogers, a fellowship instructor at Augustana College, will present the lecture, which is sponsored by the Doane Library and is free an open to the public. Rogers’ work has appeared in Journal of Natural Resources, the Social Science Research Network, and in the IEEE Proceedings on Decision and Control. His lecture will explore the important role of diversity and weak ties between breakthroughs and innovations. He also will address the ways in which invention and innovation are a result of liberal arts education.
