Karl Rove, former deputy chief of staff and senior adviser to President George W. Bush, will speak at Denison University at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, in Swasey Chapel (200 Chapel Drive). The lecture, which is sponsored by Denison’s College Republicans, is free and open to the public.

At the White House, Rove oversaw the Offices of Strategic Initiatives, Political Affairs, Public Liaison, and Intergovernmental Affairs and was deputy chief of staff for policy, coordinating the White House policy-making process. Since resigning from that post in 2007, Rove has been a columnist for Newsweek and The Wall Street Journal, and a contributor for Fox News.

Before Rove became known as “The Architect” of President Bush’s 2000 and 2004 campaigns, he was president of Karl Rove & Co., an Austin, Texas-based public affairs firm that worked for Republican candidates, nonpartisan causes and nonprofit groups. His clients included more than 75 Republican U.S. Senate, Congressional and gubernatorial candidates from 24 states.

A Colorado native, Rove attended the University of Utah, the University of Maryland-College Park, George Mason University and the University of Texas at Austin.
