Reporter, Author, Political Analyst Bill Sammon Speaks at Denison

Bill Sammon, senior White House correspondent for the Washington Examiner and political analyst for Fox News, will speak at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 5 in Slayter Hall Auditorium (200 Ridge Road). Sammon's lecture at Denison, "Up Close and Personal: A Reporter's Perspective on George W. Bush," is sponsored by the College Republicans and is free and open to the public. Child care will be available.

Sammon is the author of several politically oriented books, including his most recent, "The Evangelical President: George Bush's Struggle to Spread a Moral Democracy Throughout the World." Four of his books have been placed on the New York Times' best-seller list. Before joining the Examiner, Sammon was senior White House correspondent for the Washington Times, where he nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for his investigative reporting on illegal fundraising by the Teamsters and the Democratic Party. His experince includes covering the 2000 presidential race as one of the first reporters to arrive in Tallahassee for the post-election standoff, remaining there until it was over.

A native of Cleveland and graduate of Miami University of Ohio, Sammon reported for the Plain Dealer and spent two years uncovering widespread corruption at the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, prompting investigations into voter fraud that resulted in the dismissal of top election officials from both political parties.
